QHB’s Mission, Vision, and Values
Over the past few months, we’ve taken some time to revisit how we describe the work of Queer History Boston.
So we’ve refreshed our mission, vision, and values. Think of it less as a new direction and more as sharpening the language around what has always mattered to us.

Cambridge: It’s Always Been A Little Queer.
This exhibit highlights stories from the last hundred years of Cambridge LGBTQ+ history featuring materials from the archives of Queer History Boston and beyond. It is not a definitive account — no single project could capture the full richness of queer lives here — but it is a dive into the archives, memories, and movements that have shaped this place.
Queer History Boston
Today, more than ever, we want to be visible, accessible, and open. Queer History Boston proclaims who we are proudly and inclusively. LGBTQ+ people have long since reclaimed the word queer — as a political rallying cry, an academic field, and a community identity. It’s fluid, expansive, and active in the language of our contemporary multigenerational community.
