Join Queer History Boston’s Board of Directors

Keep Boston's LGBTQ+ History Alive!

Open Call: Now Accepting Applications
Deadline: Friday, July 17, 2026

Queer History Boston is seeking new members for our Board of Directors.

QHB's board is the volunteer leadership body responsible for the health, direction, and sustainability of the organization. Board members are active stewards of QHB — helping ensure we continue to grow, stay accountable to our community, and do meaningful work documenting, preserving, and sharing local LGBTQ+ history.

We welcome people across the full spectrum of board experience, from first-timers to seasoned directors, and we're committed to supporting every member in deepening their practice. We especially encourage people of color and trans and gender nonconforming people to apply.

How to apply:

All QHB board members are volunteers first. To apply, please complete both steps:

  1. General volunteer intake form — collects your contact information and gets you into our volunteer system

  2. Board application — the full application, including questions about your background, interests, and capacity

Timeline

  • Applications due: Friday, July 17, 2026

  • Interviews: throughout August

  • First Board Meeting & Onboarding: September

After you submit, a QHB staff member will follow up by email. We may invite you to a brief conversation with some of the existing board before moving forward.

To learn more, read the full board role description at the top of the application → Link!
