Oral History Live: Black Trans Boston

Bringing together leaders and organizers who have shaped the city's Black trans communities from the 1990s to today.

Join Queer History Boston and Boston Public Library for an Oral History Live panel discussion!

Oral History Live: Black Trans Boston brings together leaders and organizers who have shaped the city's Black trans communities from the 1990s to today. Panelists trace this history from the founding of Trans Day of Remembrance in 1999 — a moment of collective mourning, visibility, and political awakening — through decades of organizing that followed. Grounded in oral history as both method and practice, this event offers a chance to listen deeply, honor lived experience, and recognize Black trans leadership as foundational to LGBTQ+ Boston's past, present, and future.

The final list of panelists and community partners will be released soon! Thanks for your patience :)

Doors of Rabb Hall will open at 5:30 pm. The program will begin promptly at 5:45 pm with a remembrance ceremony led by Justice Roe Williams.

This program is generously funded by the Howard Cooper LGBTQ+ Endowment Fund.
